The SFT series thermocouple feedthrough with detachable temperature side connections features a revolutionary design. This design allows for the ambient side connections to be replaced without breaking the seal at the process side. This allows for quick and easy replacement of the ambient side connections while the environment remains sealed with no loss in vacuum (maximum leak rate of 1x10-9 Std. cc/sec He). This ability to maintain a hermetic seal is the result of a unique separable feedthrough housing design. 

This feedthrough design is composed of five basic elements:

  • The housing body mounts directly to your chamber wall via a 3/4-16 UNF thread with a captured O-ring seal.
  • The single piece feedthrough module contains sealed compensated thermocouple conductors.
  • The conductor joining is accomplished simply via screw post type electrical attachment for easy mounting of process and ambient side thermocouple connections.
  • A locking ring in attached by a separable mounting ring to the housing body which affords the ambient side connections to be replaced while the chamber is in its process cycle.
  • The end cap dust cover is screwed in place which protects ambient side contamination connections and also identifies the thermocouple type.

In addition, when the feedthrough wears over time there is no need to replace the entire unit. The core can be easily removed from the protective cover and replaced at a much lower cost.
